You're Up then You're Down

My name is Janelle, and I love to eat.

So I’ve gained some weight.
I’ve blamed my past surgery- it must be hormonal I say.
I also try to convince myself that I don’t care,
I’m happy with the way I am, I think to myself.
But when clothes are no longer fitting properly
and my muffin top has now become a cupcake with extra topping
I realize that I’m kidding yourself.

I try eating right again.
Getting on the treadmill a few days a week.
I even tried those weight loss clinics with the pills- the ones that you don’t want to admit to taking
The B-12 Lipo shot that I was sure I was going to have an allergic reaction and die from.
I even tried the lemonade diet. All gung ho that I would last 10 days on just that concoction alone.
Yeah
Well that lasted about 2.5 hours before I gave in
I realized that I need to make the life style change again.
With a food deprived body-
I signed up for WW’s new program

I’ve learned from past experience that unfortunately
I am not one of those girls who can cut their calorie intake and lose weight.
NOPE
I’m the kinda girl that has to cut her intake AND
Exercise
**hmmphh**

So over the past 5 weeks, I’ve tracked.
I’ve controlled myself.
I’ve past up on drinks, which is very difficult for this lush.

Through the week of my daughter’s wedding- I lost
Through the week of vacation, I gained, thankfully it was only .5 lbs
Through the week of Beer Olympics & Memorial day- I actually lost 3 lbs

So this past week, I just know that I’ve done well.
There were 2 days that I actually had 2 points remaining
I’ve pushed myself to work out longer and harder- Every. Single. Day.
I mean yesterday I had sweat roll into my eyeball and sting me
I tasted the salty sweat as it dripped into my mouth
I worked my ass off

I was feeling good when I stepped on the scale this morning
(in my birthday suit)
Until I saw 149.5
What?! I think to myself. I was 148.5 last week.
DO NOT TELL ME THAT I GAINED
I step off, then back on- 149.5
I step off, then back on- 149.5 glares at me.

I am PISSED!

Thoughts of quitting go through my head.
All of the cupcakes, cookies
Bottles of beer, & glasses of sangria that I’ve declined flash before my eyes.

I shower quickly, dry off and decide to try again.
(in my birthday suit again)
148
Excuse me?- 148 it confirms
I know that a 5 minute shower could not have let out 1.5 lbs.
I move the scale from its original position between 2 pieces of tile to a solid piece- 148 again
In disbelief- I try in a diamond shape setting accross 4 pieces of tile- 148
Place the scale back in its original spot-148

Well, that’s better.

I put my robe and make up on and decide to try for a 2nd opinion.
149.5 it screams to me
Are you F*&ing kidding me?! I yell back
I move the scale to the solid piece of tile-149.5

I tear my robe off, now I’m gonna beat the crap out of this scale
147.5 it coyly whispers to me as it flutters it’s eyelashes.
I don’t believe you, I say in return.
You’re moving to the solid tile- 147.5
Diagonal tile- 147.5
Original position between 2 tiles-147.5

Now you’re screwing with me.

I move her (by her indecisiveness, she’s clearly a woman)
I pick her up and get ready to throw her through a window
then I remember that we just put new windows in.
So onto the wooden floor in the hallway she goes
-147.5.

I storm out of the bathroom and decide that I never want to speak to her again.

Well that is until next week-
and all I'm saying is, she better be ready to act right.

I hate it when Monday…

I hate it when I haven’t blogged in so long,
I feel like nothing is good enough to be the beginner blog,
something to reel my readers back in.
Oh faithful followers, thanks for staying tuned in.

I hate it when I realize that Real whipped cream is ONLY 15 calories a serving. Seriously, 15 calories. I’ve been saying no whipped for all these years over 15 measly calories!! Bring it on!!

I hate it when exercise feels good while you’re doing it,
however the pain suddenly onsets within minutes of stopping.
I did a 5 minute training/try out with the new Reebok Traintone shoes.
They feel amazing when you’re wearing them,
(and I wouldn't mind having an ass like that)
but afterward,
holy cow!
I couldn’t sit, stand up, walk up or down the stairs,
I could hardly reposition my legs in the middle of the night…
I’m well into 24 hrs afterward and I’m still feeling the burn!
Now hubby, don’t get me wrong, I still want a pair *wink*wink*

I hate it when you take the kids shopping and you tell them, ok THIS IS IT!
This is the LAST thing you’re getting for weeks you spoiled little (so maybe I just thought that)
But then the next store you go to has a really GOOD deal,

or you remember that they did actually need that one thing.
Then you gotta say it again…Ok, that’s it, this is the last thing!
Not such a great lasting impression…uggghhh…

I hate it when you have a great tried and true recipe for something
but decide to try a new recipe anyway
I've been working on cooking more during the week,
which is hard to do after getting home from work,
cleaning up, homework, etc.etc..
But I actually cooked Mon-Thurs night last week.
One night I was craving meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
Hubby was a bit leary, but I promised it would be good.
After all, I grew up on meat loaf, I know what I'm doing, I explain
Why, oh why didn't I use Grandma Long's recipe?!
I admit, I made a mistake trying to take on a different family's recipe.

I hate it when you have talks with the teenagers about hard to talk about stuff
I hate the anxiety,
I hate having to come up with the right words
At the right time
Without trying to make it seem like you’re trying to have “the Talk”
Teenage girls…why couldn’t you just stay toddlers FOREVER…
I wouldn’t mind talking about Cookie Monster, shapes, and colors for the rest of your life.

And I especially hate when I realize my baby boy is trying to impress little girls!
The Boy and I were riding our bikes home from the park yesterday,
this Boy was going full speed,
I had a hard time keeping up (especially after the damn Reebok training)
that was until he saw the little girl sitting on her skateboard,
(I think that alone was enough to make his heart skip a beat)
He built up enough speed,
took his feet off of his pedals,
and balanced himself on his rear pegs as he rode past her….
All I could do was smile, showoff!

I hate it when Monday…

I hate it when you have so many things you want to write about but just don’t know where to begin.

I hate when you begin to write about these things but can’t finish and now you have a bunch of blog beginnings, but no endings.

I hate it when you’re in a hurry to get to work because you woke up late, forgot to make sandwiches for lunches, rushed out the door, only to remember The Boy didn’t have a jacket until you were halfway around the block. You turn around to get it, and now you’re really late and are stopped by every red light within a 22 mile radius.

I hate it when you stress out the whole drive to work because you’re 10 minutes behind schedule and as you pull up to the only road that gets you to and from your office, you’re stopped by a train for an additional 15 minutes. All that stress for nothing…sheesh… I had time to stop for some coffee!

I hate it when you buy a present for a certain occasion early and hide it away until said occasion, but by the time you go to look for it, you completely forgot where you’ve placed it. You tear the house, garage, drawers, car apart in search, but to no avail. So you break down and decide to buy another gift only to find the first gift the very next day!

I hate it when you’re driving and are in desperate need for a red light so you can jot down a note in a book, pick up the phone you’ve dropped and now it’s slid out of your reach, apply some make-up, but get nothing but green lights.
I’m convinced it’s a conspiracy of lights. Red when I want green. Green when I want red.

I hate it when you have a couple bad weeks with the Teenagers and feel like you wanna pull out your hair, quit, and run away because it never feels like things will look up, you rush home only to feel like 1,000 pounds of defeat, pain, and worry is weighing on your shoulders but you have to put on a happy I love being a mom face on.
But I do LOVE it when we all sit around the table, sit down to enjoy our dinner, and everything returns right in the world. The Teenagers are teaching The Boy girly hand jive games, then they run around, chasing and teasing each other all night…ahhh…what a feeling.

I hate it when I forget to post on the right day!

Follow along through the fun and agony as we try to figure out how to raise two completely opposite teenagers- Teen 1, the fiesty yet inquisitive one, Teen 2 quiet but wise-cracking and our ball full of energy known as The Boy. It aint always pretty, but we’ll sure try to make the best of it!
These are the stories of our lives…
